Former Manchester United midfielder, Michael Appleton, is set to return to Old Trafford as he will join Dan Ashworth’s transfer team.
After bringing in Ashworth as the new sporting director of the club, the Red Devils are now edging closer to appointing Appleton as the loan manager, according to The Sun.
Appleton graduated from Man United’s youth academy.
He will join the transfer team headed by Ashworth and will be in charge of managing the loan deals in and out of Man United.
He played for several clubs across England before retiring in 2003.
The 48-year-old later went on to manage clubs like Portsmouth, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City.
