Transfer: Man City midfielder goes on loan as Chelsea confirm deal for defender

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is all set to leave Pep Guardiola’s side after arriving at Ipswich’s training ground to complete a season-long loan move this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Phillips is understood to have been impressed with the project after discussions with Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna and the club’s chairman, Mark Ashton.

The report added that Man City are understood to still be paying a portion of Phillips’ wages.

Phillips has so far failed to be a regular starter at Man City under Guardiola since joining the Premier League champions from Leeds United in 2022.

Meanwhile, in another development, Chelsea confirmed that defender Jorja Fox has signed a new contract with the club and will spend the 2024–25 season on loan at fellow Women’s Super League side Crystal Palace.

In a statement on their website on Thursday, Chelsea said the 20-year-old extended her stay at the Premier League west London club by signing a new deal until June 2027.

Reacting, General Manager Paul Green said: “We’re very happy to be extending Jorja’s contract for a further. Everyone at Chelsea would like to wish Jorja every success during her time on loan with the Eagles, and we look forward to seeing her development throughout the season.”
