Inter Milan Vice-President, Javier Zanetti, has suggested that the Serie A champions are interested in Bologna’s star striker Joshua Zirkzee and could rival Arsenal for his signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Zirkzee has been one of Bologna’s outstanding performers this season, tallying 11 goals and four assists, helping his club’s push towards securing Champions League qualification.
It is speculated that Bologna will demand a steep fee of €60 million [£51.3m] for the young forward, who was signed on an €8.5m [£7.1m] deal from Bayern Munich in August 2022.
Zanetti hailed the 22-year-old as “a young, talented, intelligent, physically very strong player” and believes that he could be a valuable addition to a team looking to achieve great things.
When asked about a potential move for Zirkzee, Zanetti told Radio TV Serie A: ‘”Zirkzee is a great champion.
“We are talking about a young, talented, intelligent, physically very strong player.
“Someone like that would be useful to any great team aiming for important goals.
“Let’s see… if the opportunity arises we can think about it.
“With Zirkzee, Lautaro [Martinez] and [Marcus] Thuram we would have a young and strong attack. They would give us peace of mind.”
