Traders, residents allegedly attack fire service officers in Ibadan

Angry traders and residents of Akingbola area in Bodija, Ibadan, have reportedly attacked officers of the Oyo State Fire Service.

DAILY POST gathered that Akingbola is located in the Ibadan North local government area of Oyo State.

The area witnessed chaos on Tuesday when fire service officers were allegedly mobbed by residents and traders in response to a fire incident that occurred in the area.

The officers had been called to provide assistance.

However, during the firefighting operation, the water supply was exhausted, and the officers were trying to replenish it.

In the process, some of the officers were attacked by the residents and traders, with one officer sustaining a broken leg and others sustaining various degrees of injuries.

Akinyemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the attack, stating that the officers were attacked when they were attempting to replenish the depleted water supply.

He said, “Yes. Our men were mobbed when we were about to replenish water.”
