President Bola Tinubu on Thursday launched the groundbreaking ceremony of constructing a 3,112 housing unit project in Karsana District, Phase 3, Federal Capital Territory amid economic hardship.
According to a statement on the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s official X, the groundbreaking event on Thursday signified the official launch of the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme.
The ministry added that the event is expected to be initiated in Karsana, a residential area near Gwarimpa estate.
“The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is pleased to inform the public that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will officially launch the Ministry’s nationwide Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme with a groundbreaking ceremony for a 3,112 housing unit project site in Karsana, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, on Thursday, February 8, 2024,” the statement read in part.
DAILY POST recalls that it had previously reported the announcement by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development three months ago, where the Federal Government introduced the Renewed Hope Cities and Estate Programme.
The federal government had stated that 1,000 housing units would be constructed in the 36 States and 4,000 units in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
DAILY POST recalls that, like the price of goods and services, the cost of rent and building materials had skyrocketed in Nigeria. Development is symptomatic of the rising cost of living in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country.
