Tinubu postpones commissioning of Abia power project

The planned visit of President Bola Tinubu to Abia State for the commissioning of the Aba Integrated Power Project, a Geometric Power Plant in Osisioma Local Government Area of the state, has been postponed.

DAILY POST recalls that the President was billed to commission the multi-billion naira electricity project for the Aba Ringed Fenced Area of nine out of 17 local government areas of the state, on Saturday, 24th February.
The local government areas include Aba North and South, Isiala Ngwa North and South, Osisioma, Ugwunagbo, Obingwa, Ukwa East and West.

A statement issued by the management of Geometric, on Wednesday, stated that the President’s visit has been moved from Saturday to Monday, February 26.

The statement reads, “We wish to notify you that the Presidency has shifted the commissioning date for the Aba Integrated Power Project (Aba IPP) from Saturday, February 24, 2024, to Monday, Feb 26, 2024.

“We hope that your schedule will accommodate this change and we apologize for any inconvenience this date change may cause you. We would be most delighted to see you at the event on Monday.”
