President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the deputy president of the senate, Jibrin Barau and some other lawmakers at the State House in Abuja.
The meeting is coming hours after Abdul Ningi, senator representing Bauchi Central, was suspended from the senate.
The red legislative chamber suspended the Bauchi senator after he alleged that the 2024 budget was padded by N3 trillion.
DAILY POST recalls that during the weekend, Ningi stirred a controversy when he made the allegation and said a “huge damage” has been done to the north and the entire country through the budget.
DAILY POST reports that the national assembly had passed a budget of 28.7 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year.
Tinubu had proposed N27.5 trillion, but the lawmakers jacked it up by N1.2 trillion.
Ningi on Monday said he was not afraid of suspension from the senate.
“If it is a cross that I have to carry, I will carry it. I’m not afraid of anything. I believe in one God and I believe that power is transient,” he said.
“I am not scared of any issue like suspension – I have been out of the senate for eight years and people had to force me back.”
At Tuesday’s proceedings, Ningi, who came with documents, said he had evidence to back his claims.
