‘Time to say goodbye’ – Muller announces retirement as Spain beat England

Germany Forward, Thomas Muller has announced his retirement from international football.

Muller made this announcement in a post on his X account on Monday morning.

“Time to say goodbye,” Muller posted alongside a picture of him wearing Germany’s national team jersey and holding his country’s flag.

This is coming less than 24 hours after Spain were crowned Euro 2024 champions after beating England 2-1 in the final on Sunday night.

Muller’s final cap for Germany came as a substitute in the Euro 2024 quarter-final defeat to Spain as the hosts bowed out after extra time.

The 34-year-old brings the curtain down on a memorable 14-year career with Germany.

The Bayern Munich star made 86 goal contributions in just 131 caps for Germany, winning the 2014 World Cup, including the Golden Boot.
