Three men arraigned for stealing goods worth N2m

Three men, Kareem Lamidi, 48, Isreal Aremu, 33, and Olapo Oyeleye, 18, were arraigned on Friday before an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of goods valued at N2 million.

The defendants, whose residential addresses were not provided, are standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against them by the police.

The prosecutor, ASP Bendict Aigbokhan, informed the court that the defendants committed the alleged offences on October 10, at 6 am, at House 33, Iyalaje Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos.

He stated that the defendants stole gas pipes and window blinds worth N2 million belonging to the complainant, Ademola Tolulope.

According to him, the offences violate the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Meanwhile, the trio pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate K. A. Ariyo, however, granted them bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties each in like sum, ordering that the sureties should be gainfully employed and must show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

She then adjourned the case until January 12, 2024, for mention.
