Three days after impeachment, ex-Ogun Speaker keeps mum

The ousted speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, has kept quiet despite his sudden displacement.

The speaker was unseated after 18 out of 26 house members signed in favour of his impeachment on Tuesday.

Since the impeachment, Oluomo has refused to comment on the development nor has he gone to office.

Sources told DAILY POST that the impeached speaker’s aide has also not been seen in or around the legislative complex since the impeachment.

About 42 hours after his impeachment, the state government, through a statement, noted that the legislative house has the right to elect its leaders even though the executives and the party were working to ensure peace at the assembly.

Efforts to get Oluomo to speak were not successful; repeated calls to his phone were not picked up. He also did not respond to messages sent to him.

Legislative sources have confirmed to DAILY POST that Governor Dapo Abiodun has put in efforts to reinstate Oluomo but members of the assembly have stood their ground against him.
