Think tank urges APC to set up caretaker committee for support groups

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been asked to set up a caretaker committee comprising representatives of various party support groups.

The call was made by the think tank of the Amalgamated APC Support Groups, AASG, at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

The convener of the think tank, Dr A.K. Peters, said members of the caretaker committee should be drawn from the six geopolitical zones.

Peters also suggested that the committee, which should last not more than 90 days, should be saddled with the responsibility of setting up a Constitution Drafting Committee to fashion a ‘Peoples Constitution’ for AASG within 45 days.

He also proposed that the caretaker committee should set up an electoral committee to conduct a credible election within 28 days to usher in new leadership for AASG.

The AASG’s think tank was created by stakeholders following the dissolution of parallel leaderships on November 16, 2023.

Peters further urged President Bola Tinubu to consider leaders of the support groups for appointment into his government, noting that they have what it takes to bring the Renewed Hope Agenda to fruition.
