Chippa United Chief Executive Officer, Siviwe Mpengesi, has revealed the reason why the club turned down an offer for Stanley Nwabali.
Nwabali, 28, was widely expected to leave the South African Premier League Soccer club this summer.
The Nigerian shot stopper was linked to clubs within and outside South Africa.
The former Enyimba goalkeeper, however, signed a new three-year contract with the Chilli Boys last month.
Nwabali was also installed as the new captain of the club.
“It was never about the price, there were two teams who were interested, one of them was AmaZulu, but they were offering peanuts,” Mpengesi told KickOff.
“There were talks that we had with Kaizer Chiefs before the end of the season. But then we saw Kaizer Chiefs signing another goalkeeper. For Kaizer Chiefs, we were even gonna give them, and the price was not even that high.”
