Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed several persons and abducted others in Gada community, Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A villager, Ibrahim Musa, shared in a telephone interview with newsmen that the terrorists raided the village around 6 pm on Saturday.
“The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, arrived on motorcycles in significant numbers and began shooting indiscriminately at the villagers. We lost seven people in this heinous operation, with scores being kidnapped,” he added.
DAILY POST reports that the attack occurred a day after the governor left for Imo State to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) team for the governorship election.
Musa urged the federal government to intervene in rescuing Zamfara State residents, noting the escalating dire situation.
“No one in the state is safe, and we implore the federal government to deploy more security personnel to Zamfara State to curb the persistent activities of the notorious bandits.”
Efforts by newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, to reach the state police command spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, proved unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
