Surulere Constituency bye-election: APC elects candidate to replace Gbajabiamila

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Fuad Laguda, has been elected as a candidate for the House of Representatives by-election in Surulere Constituency 1, Lagos State.

The election, billed for February 3, 2024, will be conducted to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of the former speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.

DAILY POST recalls that Gbajabiamila, the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, resigned his membership in the House of Representatives after 20 years in the Green Chamber.

This was following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu as his Chief of Staff in an appointment letter dated June 14.

Gbajabiamila’s resignation was announced in a letter read by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

Gbajabiamila was first elected in 2003 and he remained in the parliament for 20 years until his resignation.
