Supreme Court judgement: ‘Focus on good governance now’ — IPAC tells governors

The National Chairman of the Interparty Advisory Council, IPAC, Alhaji Yusuf Dabo Dantalle, has urged all parties that emerged winners in Friday’s Supreme Court rulings to now focus on good governance.

The apex court delivered judgement on the governorship elections in Kano, Plateau, Ebonyi, Zamfara and Abia States on Friday.

Dantalle also expressed his profound appreciation to the other candidates and their parties, who, despite not attaining victory, accepted the court’s pronouncements with maturity and grace.

The IPAC national chairman urged the winners to embrace the spirit of magnanimity in their moments of triumph, reach out to all stakeholders, irrespective of their political affiliations, and build bridges of unity and inclusivity within their states.

Dantalle, in a statement he signed and made available to reporters on Sunday, emphasised the urgency of shifting focus from litigation to the critical task of governance.

He reminded the governors of their primary responsibility to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people who entrusted them with their mandate.

He urged them to prioritise addressing the pressing concerns of their constituents, such as security, economic development, job creation, and infrastructural development.

He thanked political stakeholders and their supporters for maintaining peace and decorum throughout the legal process and in the aftermath of the Supreme Court pronouncements.
