Men of the Oyo State Police Command, Friday night, arrested two persons, in connection with a clash between students and residents of Ogbomoso.
Recall that a clash had broken out between some students of Areago Community High School, Ogbomoso and some residents within the community on Thursday.
It was gathered that the Vice Principal, two teachers and the day guard of the school were arrested in connection with the incident by men of the state police command from Owode Police Station, they were, however, released through the efforts of other teachers and Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT and other stakeholders.
But the two community members who allegedly beat up some teachers were later arrested Friday night and are still in detention at the Owode Police Station as of the time of filing this report, DAILY POST gathered.
Chairman of the NUT in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Tunde Oladapo confirmed the arrest of the two members of the community to DAILY POST on Saturday.
Oladapo also confirmed the release of the Principal and three other staff of the school, saying, “I was at the police station to ensure that the teachers were not cheated.
“Two residents from the community were arrested Friday night. They are still in the custody.
“We bailed the teachers out, the Vice Principal, the two teachers and the day guard on Friday. All four have been bailed.
“Two people who are youths from the community have been arrested. They beat the teachers that were still in the school when we went to bail the four people arrested at the police station. Someone called us that they had been beating the teachers, so we went there and the two people were arrested.
“The two women who caused the trouble were arrested but they have been released”.
