The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has postponed indefinitely the inauguration of the Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, made this announcement in a statement on Monday in Abuja, saying the postponement was due to the industrial action embarked upon by Labour unions in the country.
According to him, a new date for the inauguration will be communicated in due course.
“The PDP charges all members of the campaign council, party leaders, critical stakeholders, our teeming members and supporters in Edo State and across the nation to continue in their unrelenting efforts towards the success of our party and governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State,” he said.
The indefinite strike declared by organized labour grounded government and private businesses in Abuja.
Compliance to the strike directive issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, and their affiliates was almost 100 percent in government ministries, departments and agencies.
