Stay off church property – United Methodist Church tells Bishop

Leaders of the United Methodist Church in Nigeria, says Bishop John Wesley Yohana, must be cautious of tampering with the church property since he is no longer a member of the church.

Briefing journalists in Jalingo, on Monday, the Conference Secretary of the church, Rev Emmanuel Ande, announced that the Bishop is no longer a member of the church, hence the need for him to distance himself from the church property.

The church has been fraught with controversy since its leaders returned from the church’s General Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America.

The controversy followed the alleged adoption of same-sex marriage by some factions in the church, which the Nigerian branch described as unethical.

Speaking against the bishop who he alleged distanced himself from the local church to join the Global Methodist Church, Ande called on the security agencies to ensure that the bishop does not go away with the church property.
