‘Stay calm’ – Mikel Obi tells Liverpool’s Luis Diaz after his father’s abduction

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has advised Liverpool winger Luis Diaz on two things to do after his father was recently kidnapped in Colombia.

DAILY POST recalls that Diaz’s parents were recently kidnapped in Colombia, with his mother quickly released but his father still being held hostage.

Diaz later made an emotional plea to the guerilla group responsible, asking for his father’s release after his equaliser for Liverpool in a Premier League 1-1 draw against Luton a few days ago.

“I am happy to see that Liverpool are very supportive,” Mikel Obi told talkSport. “I must give credit to Liverpool for what they are doing. I can relate to Luis Diaz and what he is going through. This kind of situation is where you absolutely have nothing to do.

“I know exactly what you are going through and I hope he stays strong. I know it is a tough time for him as a player. I know what his family is going through as well.”
