Six injured as bandits attack Benue community

Six persons sustained injuries as bandits attacked Antsa village in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State on Tuesday.

Antsa village is the host community of the Joseph Saarwuan Tarka University, JOSTUM, Makurdi.

DAILY POST gathered that the attackers stormed the community at about 1:00 am while some traders, who usually close late, were still at their shops.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, the bandits stormed the community and started attacking residents.

“They brutally wounded the people and most of them were hospitalized.

“About six persons had their bodies cut and one had his finger cut and it was seen on the ground.

“We also heard they went to CAPS to inflict injury on some persons there.

“Soldiers came that night, shooting, and they ran away.
It was learnt that angry youths blocked the road for hours, burning tyres,” the source said.

DAILY POST reports that, in March 2024, Governor Hyacinth Alia had given a two weeks ultimatum to herders to vacate the state. But they armed herders have continued to launch attacks in the state.
