Sit-at-home: It’s unacceptable – COSEYL condemns killing of soldiers in Abia

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has condemned the attack on a military checkpoint in Obikabia junction in Aba, Abia State by unknown gunmen enforcing sit-at-home in the Southeast on Thursday.

DAILY POST reports that the attack which was reportedly carried out by some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, claimed the lives of at least two soldiers.

Streets in most parts of the region were deserted on Thursday following the enforcement of the sit-at-home earlier declared by the secessionist group to mark the 2024 Biafra Day.

Reacting, COSEYL in a statement issued by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, described the gruesome murder of the military personnel as unfortunate.

According to Ibem, the attack was carried out by criminal elements “hiding under the cover of Biafra struggle to perpetuate crime” in the region particularly in Abia State.
