Napoli manager, Walter Mazzarri has explained the reason behind Victor Osimhen’s struggle in the club’s defeat to Juventus.
The Serie A champions went down to 1-0 defeat against their hosts at the Allianz Stadium on Friday night.
It was the Partenopei’s third consecutive defeat across all competitions.
Osimhen made his second consecutive start in the game but he seems a long way off his best after an Injury lay-off.
Mazzarri conceded the talismanic striker needs to attain full fitness to be able to give his best.
“Champions inspire the others, but they also need to find full fitness. You could tell he (Osimhen) was being man-marked even when the ball was nowhere near him,” Mazzarri said after the game.
“When he is in good shape, he will make the difference, but then we lose him with the Africa Cup of Nations and others have to fill in.”
The 24-year-old has scored six goals in 11 league appearances for Napoli this season.
