Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis has launched a veiled criticism of Victor Osimhen.
He suggested that his top striker was always sick and could not play more than 50 percent of games for the club.
He spoke about Victor Osimhen at a press conference as the 2023-24 season winds down.
Osimhen, who is the most expensive player for the club, was unavailable for selection in several matches due to fitness issues.
The Nigerian attacker was not available for selection as Napoli were held to a 2-2 draw by Fiorentina in the Serie A on Friday night.
It is still uncertain whether the former Lille striker will be available for selection against Lecce on the final day of the season.
Osimhen has missed sixteen games this season due to fitness issues.
“You can’t force coaches to train a club or you can’t make sure that your first striker scores twenty-eight goals and that he is not ill and that perhaps he participated in 50% of the matches he should have played,” De Laurentiis told reporters.
“I collect everything about myself. That’s fine, but I mean, at a certain point, I also send something back to the sender.”
