A joint security operation consisting of the military and Police personnel have commenced in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State to restore peace in the area.
Communities in Apa LGA had come under heavy attacks from killer herders, with several persons killed and villages sacked.
The security operatives were deployed on Sunday as a swift intervention by the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, to end the killings by the invaders in Apa LGA.
During the operation, the security operatives left no stone unturned as they combed every nook of the area, searching for the herders that had earlier taken over major parts of the community.
The Commanders of Operation Whirl Stroke, OWS, Maj Gen. Sunday Igbinowanhia, Brig Gen. Rabiu, Lt Col Balogune, Lt Col Kefas, and Capt KA Obona coordinated the deployment of troops to restore peace to the area.
DAILY POST gathered from military sources on Sunday, in Makurdi, that the operation became necessary to check the attacks on communities in Benue State, particularly by armed herders.
Reports also said the collaborative efforts of the Police of the Otukpo Area Commander, DPOs, and Agro Rangers were instrumental in bringing stability to the area.
