The faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, has successfully screened and confirmed eight commissioner-designates.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara sent the names for screening to fill the gap created by the former pro-Wike commissioners, who resigned last week.
The confirmed nominees included Prince Charles Bekee, Collins Onunwo, Solomon Eke, Basoene Benibo, Peter Medee, Tasie Amadi, Tambari Sydney Gbara and Ovy Orluideye Chukwuma.
During the screening process by the Oko-Jumbo-led assembly, the commissioner-designates expressed their commitment to leverage their experience to elevate Governor Fubara’s administration.
Leader of the Oko-Jumbo-led Rivers State Assembly, Sokari Goodboy Sokari, during the debate on the screening, urged the House to confirm the nominees, citing their extensive service in various capacities within the state.
His motion for the closure of the debate was seconded by Adolphus Orubienimigha, leading to unanimous confirmation by the members.
The Speaker of the pro-Fubara lawmakers, Oko-Jumbo took the opportunity to commend Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his notable achievements, emphasising the impactful projects across the state.
He urged the governor to stay focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people, assuring him of the assembly’s unwavering support.
