Rivers crisis: Wike denies demanding N100bn from Fubara

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of spreading lies against him.

Wike, speaking in an interview on Channels Television on Friday, said that claims he was making monetary demands from Fubara were false.

Wike said the governor has abandoned those who fought to ensure he became Governor of Rivers State.

Wike, the immediate past governor of the oil-rich state, supported Fubara in succeeding him during the 2023 governorship election.

However, the two have since fallen out, with accusations and counter-accusations from both sides.

“They say I’m asking for N20 billion, N100 billion, he spreads lies against me,” Wike said.

“I brought you up, I put you here. Fubara abandoned those who laboured for him.”
