Bauchi Police Command has imposed restrictions on movement for the Saturday, February 2024, rerun election to be held in three local government areas of the state.
DAILY POST reports that the restriction of movement is from midnight of Friday to 06:00 pm of Saturday February 3, 2024.
The Command equally barred Very Important Persons, VIPs and politicians from going to a polling unit with their security details on election day.
Only individuals engaged in essential services, such as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, staff, ambulance crews, firefighters, and authorized Election Observers with valid identification are permitted at the election venue.
The State Commissioner of Police CP, Auwal Musa Mohammed made the announcement in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi on Friday by the spokesperson of the Command, Superintendent of Police, SP Ahmed Wakil.
The CP also warned that unauthorized use of sirens, revolving lights, covered plate numbers, and tinted glasses are still in force and violators would be sanctioned appropriately.
“In view of this, the Command has placed the following restriction Orders: Restriction of persons and vehicular movement across Bauchi Metropolitan, Katagum, and Ningi LGA of the State.
“On this note, operatives attached to the Command in conjunction with other sister security agencies will be deployed to ensure full enforcement,” he stated.
The CP added that state-established and owned security outfits/organizations, quasi-security units, private guards, and other security outfits were also barred from participating in election security management.
He warned that anyone found deliberately “directly or indirectly” flouting this order(s) will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
