Reps to probe Bobrisky’s alleged N15 million bribe to EFCC

The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the alleged payment of N15 million bribe to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC by Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

The House made this decision following a motion of urgent public importance moved by Patrick Umoh on Thursday during plenary.

Recall that the controversial cross-dresser was earlier this year sentenced to six months in prison for currency mutilation.

However, on Tuesday night, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, released a voice recording allegedly of Bobrisky claiming he bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to drop the money laundering charge against him.

In the recording, Bobrisky also claimed that he never spent a day in prison after his conviction, stating that his godfather arranged for him to serve his term in a lodge instead of a jail.

Leading the debate on the motion, Umoh, who represents Akwa Ibom State, described the allegation as “damning.”

He expressed concern about “the negative image and portrayal of Nigeria as a corrupt nation and the country’s struggle to redeem itself from such perceptions.”

Consequently, the House resolved to “set up an ad-hoc committee composed of persons of unquestionable integrity to immediately probe the allegation and report to the House within three legislative weeks.”
