The House Committee on Aviation Technology has vowed to implement measures to reduce flight crashes in Nigeria.
The chairman of the committee, Rep. Abiodun Akinlade, made the pledge during the committee’s inaugural meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
He stated that the committee was concerned about the country’s frequent air crashes and that it would do everything in its ability to reduce them.
“We will with the support of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), the regulatory authorities, organize a high-tech town hall meeting to look into the causes of the air crashes.
“We will also look at other safety abnormalities at our airports. Our airspace must be safe for all,” he said.
He promised to meet the expectations of the House, Nigerians, and stakeholders.
The lawmaker stated that the committee would work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that Nigeria develops a highly innovative and productive aviation industry.
