Remaining surviving victim of Kogi fire incident dies

Hajarat Usman Sani, one of the victims of the fire incident in Idah, Kogi State, is dead.

Family sources told DAILY POST that she died in Idah on Friday morning after suffering severe burns.

DAILY POST recalls that unknown arsonists set ablaze the Oketekwe residence of the victims in Idah Local Government Area of the State on Thursday morning, leading to the deaths of Mallama Meimunat Opaluwa Sani, her daughter, Hajarat Usman Sani, and a five-year-old granddaughter identified as Onechojo.

Mallama Meimunat Opaluwa Sani and Onechojo died on Thursday.

The tragic incident has attracted condemnations from far and near, as critical stakeholders in Kogi are calling on security agencies to catch the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

One of those who have reacted to this ugly incident is the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, who described the deaths of the victims as tragic and sacrilegious.

The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Police is still yet to comment on the incident as of the time of filing this report on Friday afternoon.
