Protest: Displaying Russian flag, calling for military coup treason – Adeyanju

Activist, Deji Adeyanju on Monday faulted the decision of protesters to raise the Russian flag and calling for a military coup.

Adeyanju said brandishing the Russian flag and calling for a military coup during protest was treason.

He asked security agencies to arrest those brandishing the Russian flag and calling for a military take over.

Posting on X, Sani wrote: “It is treason to be raising the Russian flag and calling for a military coup. That is not protest but treason. Security agencies should arrest those doing so.

“While we welcome those who didn’t protest for once under Buhari’s terrible 8yrs of bad governance, treason is condemnable.”

Recall that while the protest festered in some states, the Russian flag with Red, Blue and White colours was spotted in Kano, Plateau, Kaduna and Zamfara states.

Reacting to the development, the Russian Embassy, emphasised that the nationwide hunger protesters’ actions do not reflect any official Russian government policy or position.
