The Premier League has claimed John Stones’ late winner against Wolves was initially disallowed due to Bernardo Silva being in an offside position.
However, following a VAR check, the goal was allowed to stand as the champions won 2-1.
A tweet on the Premier League Match Centre, read: “Stones’ goal was disallowed on-field due to Bernardo Silva being in an offside position and in the goalkeeper’s line of vision.
“The VAR deemed Bernardo Silva wasn’t in the line of vision and had no impact on the goalkeeper and recommended an on-field review.
“The referee overturned his original decision and a goal was awarded.”
Jorgen Strand Larsen had given the hosts the lead, before Josko Gvardiol drew City level before the break.
In the last minute of the game, Stones headed past Sa, but the goal was subjected to a VAR check.
However, the goal was eventually awarded after referee Chris Kavanagh deemed that Bernado Silva did not impede Sa.
