Power outage: Customers urge Kano Govt to call KEDCO to order

Electricity customers in Kano have urged the state government to take action against Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, for cutting off power supply to customers without notice.

The call was made during the plenary session at the Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday presided over by the Speaker, Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

Presenting the motion, the member representing Kiru, Usman Abubakar Tasiu accused KEDCO of not serving the needs of its customers.

Tasi’u lamented how KEDCO has failed to provide transformers or repair faulty ones, despite collecting payments.

He urged the Kano State Government to compel KEDCO to restore electricity supply to affected communities, particularly in the Kiru, Bebeji and Karaye areas.

Contributing to the motion, Aminu Sa’ad, the member representing Ungoggo, noted that the House has repeatedly called on the government to intervene in KEDCO’s operations due to the power outage.

He noted that different motions were presented in the 8th and 9th assemblies regarding KEDCO’s operations following the company’s failure to serve the people of Kano State better.
