Porto head coach, Sergio Conceicao has revealed the reason behind his decision to substitute in the side’s 2-1 win against Vitoria Guimaraes on Saturday.
Sanusi returned to full action for Porto against Royal Antwerp in midweek after spending close to two months on the sidelines with injury.
The 26-year-old was handed his second start against Vitoria Guimaraes in as many days.
The left-back scored his first league goal for the Dragons in the encounter.
Sanusi, however, was replaced a few minutes after the break.
“He had a strong stomp, he was in difficulty and before that, I felt he wasn’t doing so well,” Conceicao told the club’s official website.
“We cannot forget the time off, the two games he played after the injury and finding a competitive rhythm is never easy.
“He had the merit of appearing to score the goal and when I saw him struggling I put Taremi and Galeno in, lowering Pepê. It paid off because we could have scored more goals.”.
