The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP, Fayoade Adegoke, has stated that no officer is permitted to search the phones of any Nigerian.

Adegoke explained that if an officer suspected anything, they would take the suspect to the cyber section of the police station.

The CP said this during his visit to Melody FM, 107.7FM, in Lagos.

“If you feel a policeman engaged in corruption or cheated you, kindly report the policeman to his DPO or Area Commander. But if you still feel cheated, please report to me directly. My phone number is open to all Lagosians.

“No police officer has the right to beat citizens. The people are the government’s employers; your taxes support us. Thus, we have to treat you with the appropriate decency.
