Police screen 19,258 out of 25,346 shortlisted applicants in Benue

The Nigeria Police Force has screened 19,258 applicants out of the 25,346 shortlisted from Benue State.

This was disclosed by the leader of the police recruitment team to the State, ASP Dominic Iornumbe, during a visit to Governor Hyacinth Alia at the Government House, Makurdi, on Friday.

He said the team which arrived in Benue on January 8, 2024, had concluded documentation and uploading of the screened applicants.

He expressed the readiness of the police and the Police Service Commission to recruit many people from the state if the facilities at the police training school domiciled in the state are improved upon.

He urged the governor to urgently improve the facilities at the training college in Annune to increase the chances of more Benue youths who have applied for the exercise to be trained.

Alia, while addressing the police recruitment team, decried the high level of youth unemployment in the state, saying the police recruitment exercise is a platform for a good number of them to be taken off the streets.

He lauded the Federal Government for establishing and making the Police Training School, Wanune, Tarka Local Government Area, as a training centre for Benue and many other neighbouring states.
