Police launch investigation as gunmen kill drummer in Edo community

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly killed a drummer identified as HC Ikhamateh Akhumhele in Osholo community of Edo State.

DAILY POST reports that Osholo community is located in Uwanno kingdom in Etsako East Local Government Area of the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu who spoke to newsmen in Benin City, said the Command received the report of the incident on Saturday.

“We are meeting with community leaders on this unfortunate incident while tactical teams have been deployed to comb the crime scene and its surroundings for possible arrest of the suspects.

“The DPOs sharing boundaries with that area have also been alerted on the matter to be on the look out for these suspects.

“The Command will appreciate any information from members of the public that could help the police in fishing out the perpetrators,” he said.

It was gathered that the drummer was killed on Saturday, 26 October, 2024 between 6 and 7 pm, along Iviukwe road in the community

Although details of the incident are still sketchy, no one could ascertain what led to the killing of the drummer.

A resident of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity, however, said that Police operatives are no longer present in Agenebode, the administrative headquarters of the region.

DAILY POST recalls that the Police station was recently attacked and razed by irate youths over alleged kidnapping and killing of a young man simply identified as Junior.
