Police investigate assault on cab driver by Abia Rep Ikwechegh

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, on Monday said it is investigating the assault of a cab driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, by a member of the House of Representatives from Abia State, Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh.

NPF warned the public against using the name or office of the Inspector General of Police to threaten others during altercations.

Ikwechegh had reportedly threatened to make the cab driver disappear during the assault.

DAILY POST sighted the video of the incident shared on X by former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, Chidi Odinkalu.

The Rep member also threatened to beat up the cabman and lock him up in his generator house.

Reacting, NPF posted on its X handle: “The Nigeria Police Force is aware of the incident between a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya, and Hon. Alexander Ikwegh, which took place on October 27, 2024, in Maitama, Abuja.
