Police Corporal dismissed for killing Aba businessman

A Police Corporal, Obagi Njok, who killed an Aba-based businessman, Mr Emmanuel Okocha, has been dismissed from the Police Force.

He was found guilty by the disciplinary team set up by the Abia State Police Command to investigate the incident.

Okocha, who was a popular businessman from Abiriba, Ohafia LGA, was shot in Aba in April 2024 by Corporal Obagi Njok, which resulted to his death.

The dismissal of the police officer was disclosed in statement signed by ASP Maureen Chinaka, the spokesperson of the Abia State Police Command.

The statement, which condemned any act of misconduct and indiscipline among officers in the Command, noted that families of the deceased person and relevant stakeholders were carried along during the investigation.

“Police Corporal Obagi Njok (as he was then) was found guilty of discreditable conduct to wit misuse of fire arms and has therefore been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force.

“Investigation into the criminal aspects of his conduct has also been concluded and the matter has therefore been handed over to the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Abia state on 24/05/2024 for prosecution in court,” the statement said
