The Police in Lagos State have confirmed the death of a 25-year-old carpenter, identified as Sunday, who allegedly fell at a construction site in Lagos.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.
Hundeyin said on Tuesday, at about 6.00pm, a resident engineer with a construction company with a site at Banana Island, reported the case at Ikoyi Police Division.
The image maker said the engineer reported that at about 6.00pm same day, one Sunday, a carpenter, who was contracted by the senior carpenter of the construction company, allegedly fell from a story building while removing lintel woods.
Hundeyin said the report further stated that the victim was rushed to a hospital at Falomo for medical treatment but was confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor on duty.
“The body has been taken to General Hospital, Lagos Island Mortuary, for autopsy.
“The detectives also visited the scene, and photographed the deceased. Physical injuries were observed.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that he may have possibly fallen from the lift shaft used in the construction site,” he said.
The spokesperson said the family of the deceased had been contacted, while an investigation was in progress.
