Police bust warehouse theft syndicate in Bauchi

Operatives of the Bauchi Police Command have arrested a suspected thief after busting a syndicate involved in warehouse theft across the metropolis.

Ukasha Adamu, 23, a resident of Ajiya Adamu Road, Bauchi metropolis, was arrested on November 11, 2024, following an investigation by the State Intelligence Department, SID.

The spokesman of Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement issued on Monday, revealed that Adamu and his accomplices used fabricated keys to break into stores and steal valuable items.

Recovered items included 150 bags of parboiled rice, 43 cartons of spaghetti, 20 cartons of vegetable oil, and 42 cartons of liquid fertiliser.

The police estimate the total value of the seized goods at over N13.25 million.

In a related development, the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, led by CSP Suleiman M. Tambuwal, arrested a suspected dealer of harmful substances, including methylene chloride, commonly known as “Suck and Die,” at Tudun Wadan Dan Iya, Bayan Gari.

The suspect, Kabiru Adamu, was found with hundreds of bottles and containers of the dangerous substance, which he admitted to selling.

The substances, which include diamond rubber solution, were reportedly sold for as low as N300 and N250 per unit.

The suspect confessed to working under a boss and receiving payment for distributing the items.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed further investigations to ensure the prosecution of the suspects and the arrest of other members of the syndicate.
