Police in Jigawa State have arrested two armed robbery suspects over alleged stabbing of a motorcyclist.
Spokesman of the Command DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrest in a statement.
“On 29/05/24 at about 2100hrs, a distress call was received at Hadejia ‘A’ Division, that one Abdulsalam Usman of Gandun-Bundigoma Quarters Hadejia LGA, a commercial motorcyclist, was seen laying down unconscious along Hadejia-Kano road.
“On receipt of the report, personnel from the Division rushed to the scene and conveyed the victim to General Hospital Hadejia for treatment.
“When the victim regained consciousness, he narrated that he was conveying an unknown passenger from Gandun-Bundigoma junction to Azamu village, on reaching Crystal Sugar Company along Kano/Hadejia Road, the passenger and one other person waiting by the roadside, attacked him with a knife, stabbed him on the head, neck and his back, and carted away his Daylong motorcycle,” the statement said.
The Police spokesman said detectives promptly swung into action and acting on credible information, arrested one Hamza Hassan of Argina village, Auyo LGA, and one Ibrahim Abdulkareem of Tashena village, Malam Madori LGA.
He said the suspects had confessed to having committed the offense and the motorcycle was recovered in their possession.
