Police arrest Delta Poly accountant, recover gun

The Delta State Commissioner of Police Special Team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested a 52-year-old accountant of the Polytechnic, Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area, Chief Oviri Onorigho, at his residence on Friday around 1130hrs.

The police also recovered one Baretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement signed and made available to our correspondent in Warri.

He said, “A search warrant was executed in his residence during which one Baretta pistol loaded with four rounds of live ammunition was recovered.”

According to SP Edafe,”The suspect was immediately arrested.”

He also said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that he is suspected to be a member of Aiye confraternity.

“The suspect stated that he bought the gun from one Morrison (at large) for N250,000 and that it was for his protection.”

He said the suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
