Police arrest 44-year-old suspected armed robber, recover gun in Delta community

The Police in Ovwian/Aladja Division, led by CSP Bulus Musa, have arrested a 44-year-old suspected armed robber, Anthony Odumegwu.

They recovered from him an English Beretta Pistol without a magazine in his attempt to steal a motorcycle from one Mohammed Yusuf.

The suspect, who is an indigene of Ihiala, Anambra State, was arrested on 22/4/24 at about 03:00 hrs.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement he sent to DAILY POST.

He said the suspect was trying to steal a Daylong Motorcycle from Mohammed Yusuf, a resident of Ekete Inland Waterside in Udu Local Government Area.

The police image-maker said the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Bulus Musa, swiftly mobilized to the scene of the crime having received a distressed call that the suspect was attempting to steal a Daylong motorcycle from its owner.

He said a thorough search of the suspect and scene of the crime was conducted, and an English Beretta Pistol without a magazine was recovered.

SP Edafe said, “Investigation is ongoing.”
