Two persons have allegedly been stabbed to death in a clash that erupted between two rival youth groups of Fadikpe and Kutirko areas of Minna, the Niger State capital.
The deceased were identified as Umar Aminu and Saidu Mallam.
DAILY POST learnt that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening during which several other persons sustained injuries.
A source from the area told DAILY POST that some youths, armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons stormed Kulogbe community and it resulted in a free for all leading to the killing of two persons.
He revealed that after attacking themselves with dangerous weapons, the miscreants also vandalised some shops in the area.
Confirming the development in a statement, the Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that a total of 10 suspects have been arrested for thuggery, disturbance of public peace, and culpable homicide at Fadikpe area of Minna in connection with the incident.
According to him: “Police patrol teams, led by DPO Kpakungu, were drafted to the scene and three suspects were arrested during the fight. When the miscreants attempted to regroup, patrol teams immediately intervened and seven other suspects were arrested, making a total of 10 suspects.”
Abiodun added that the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discrete investigation and diligent prosecution.
