PIA EMOIMEE Saga (Pt. 2): If Greed was a Person

I’ve watched with keen interest how media attacks have flown in left right center on the quality of mini-buses procured by the EMOIMEE team in Eket Local Government Area, while I tried all I could to overlook that as i was not in Eket to also ascertain the quality of these mini-buses, one then prays that the beneficiaries of these so-called ‘Scrap’ buses be able to utilize it well to fend for their homes.

While we keep soliciting for the quality of the Empowerment items to improve next time, this post is not for that purposes.

For the sake of this post, common sense demands one to know that empowerment programs are meant for the poor and average homes so they can use such to fend for their homes in this harsh economic season, but that seems not to be the case in my darling Eket where everything seems to work base on Political party, Connection and slot.

This is Mr Kingsley Tommey, the elder brother of Eket Council Chairman, Hon. Akan Tommey
and the younger brother of one of the wealthiest sons out of Eket, Mr Scott Tommey.
It’s very very clear that Mr Kingsley is neither from a Poor or average home to qualify for such an empowerment program established to curtail hardship in the land via the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) which compels Oil Companies to pay some entitlement to host communities, which In-turn is use to empower community members and the selection process i learned is base on community levels.

So I dare to ask the Village head of Mr Kingsley Tommy’s Community, sincerely speaking, is Mr Kingsley Tommey a poor or average Man to be a beneficiary of this empowerment item thats supposed to be meant for the struggling young people of the community?

Why is Mr Kingsley Tommey always a beneficiary of most PDP empowerment programs in Eket?

Is it that the Tommey family have a special slot in every empowerment programs and palliative coming into Eket?

If this is not greed coming from the Tommey family, then I don’t know what it is.

But while how Mr Kingsley benefits from the PDP empowerment programs is none of my business, I frown at same style being brought into EMOIMEE program while several poor homes in Eket have not smell anything from the program.

Please I appeal that this shouldn’t happen again as it brings disrepute to the integrity of PIA EMOIMEE team in Eket.

Meanwhile, Congratulations to all the other beneficiaries except Mr Kingsley Tommey.

Thank you.
