Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the death of the party’s legislator in the House of Representatives, Ekene Abubakar Adams.
Writing on his X handle on Tuesday, Obi said, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member of the Labour Party in the House of Representatives from Kaduna State. My heartfelt condolences go out to his wife, family, and loved ones.
“His untimely death at the age of 39 is a tragic loss to the nation.
“As Chairman of the House Committee on Sports and Representative of the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Hon. Adams has already in his short tenure made significant contributions to the development of sports in Nigeria. His passion and expertise in this field will be greatly missed.
“May God Almighty who called him home at this time, forgive his sins and grant him eternal rest, and grant his family, and all of us, the fortitude to bear his sad irreplaceable loss.”
Obi prayed that God Almighty accepts the soul of the departed and comfort his family.
