Pay 4 months withheld salaries -SSANU tells Nigerian Govt

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has called on the Federal Government to urgently pay four months withheld salaries of its members.

SSANU Chairman, Federal University Lokoja, Adedeji Suarau, told newsmen on Thursday in Lokoja that the Federal Government had yet to pay May, June, July and August 2022 salaries of its members.

Suarau, who noted that the government recently paid university lecturers’ withheld salaries, added that it would be just for the government to also pay SSANU members.

The Federal Government had withheld four months salaries of SSANU members for engaging in strike in 2022.

All efforts to get the salaries paid failed during the administration of then President Muhammed Buhari.

“We were hopeful when President Tinubu pleaded with governors to ensure that all arrears of salaries would be paid to cushion the effects of economic hardship during his last meeting with them,” he said.
