Pains of economic crisis will soon be over – Ekiti govt assures citizens

The Ekiti State Government has assured citizens that pains caused by skyrocketing prices of food and other essential commodities will soon be over.

The government, in its message of hope, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would take all necessary economic and political measures to put a soothing balm on the pains of Nigerians, by initiating permanent and palliative policies to make the economy stronger and return normalcy to the system.

In spite of the economic crunch and the attendant discomfort, the government urged the citizens to continue to prioritise personal and environmental hygiene for improved wellness and life expectancy.

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, gave the assurance at Ido-Ile Ekiti, on Saturday, while monitoring the monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Ekiti West Local Government and Okemesi/Ido Ile Local Council Development Area.

Afuye, in a statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, stated that Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his team are thinking outside the box to cushion the effects of the current hyper-inflation on Ekiti residents.

She disclosed that the approval of a sum of N331 million for local governments to purchase palliative materials and the constitution of Price Control and Regulation Committee by the state, were sufficient to convince the citizens that landmark measures were being devised to overcome the situation .

“Please, let us be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You all knew that he just came into government. By the grace of God and your support, all these pains
will soon be over.

“In Ekiti State, your governor is not resting. He is working round the clock to support President Tinubu to address the current situation. You know he loves you and he is ever ready to make you happy. Don’t worry, all these crises will be addressed,” she said.

Speaking about how passionate the government was about environmental sanitation at the Palace of Olojudo of Ido Ile, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, Afuye restated that Ekiti won’t allow any outbreak of diseases due to laxity on the part of the citizens .

The government advised that the current economic crises blowing across the country shouldn’t be a barrier to the citizens to maintain cleanliness to reduce morbidity and mortality rates.

“When you have good health , you have everything. We want you to support our Governor to make Ekiti clean. I know that things are tough, but it will soon get better .

“The current economic crisis is not a barrier for you not to value cleanliness and your life. But I commend you for what I am seeing in Ido Ile today, your environment is clean and this must continue in our collective interest,” she said.

In his submission, Obaleye saluted Oyebanji for setting Ekiti on a faster pace of economic and infrastructural facelift.

He promised that his community will continually back the government to ensure that the health of the residents is safeguarded at all times.

On the Deputy Governor’s entourage were Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro; Permanent Secretary in her office, Mr. Abayomi Opeyemi; among other top government functionaries.
