Otti moves to save Osisioma Flyover from collapse, orders immediate repair

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has stated that some sections of the Osisioma Interchange, commissioned in 2022 by the immediate past administration, are in poor condition.

The governor has therefore instructed the Abia State Commissioner for Works, Don Otumchere Oti, to immediately deploy his team to repair the failing sections of the flyover.

He gave the directive on Saturday at Eziama Aba while commissioning new projects completed by the outgoing Local Government Chairman of Aba North LGA, John Udeagbala.

The Governor expressed surprise that the Osisioma bridge, completed two years ago, is already deteriorating.

“We don’t want the bridge to collapse. We do not know why, two years after commissioning, the bridge would be caving in, but we’ll find out and repair it,” he said.

“We strongly believe that government is a continuum, and if anything was not done properly, we will go there and fix it,” Otti added.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the performance of the outgoing Aba North Chairman, John Udeagbala, stating that all 17 outgoing LGA bosses justified their appointments and would be re-engaged by the state government in other areas of governance.

He promised that all streets off Azikiwe Road, Port Harcourt Road, and Aba-Owerri to Umungasi would soon be repaired and beautified.

In his address, the Mayor of Aba North recalled that the Council Headquarters had faced the embarrassment of lacking office accommodation, which negatively impacted staff productivity.
